About Alethea: Alethea heads up the Cape Innovation and Technology Initiative’s (CiTi) CapaCiTi tech skills and job readiness programme. The initiative skills unemployed South African youth in high-demand tech expertise and places graduates at top South African companies. CapaCiTi boasts a 96% placement rate with over 700 unemployed South African youth placed in tech jobs over the past five years. In addition to a focus on tech education, CiTi drives systemic innovation by creating curated and specialist innovation hubs and clusters, the objective of which is to stimulate investment and job creation and accelerate sector-specific tech start-ups. CiTi has received international recognition for its Fintech clustering success and has recently launched a TravelTech cluster. An EdTech Cluster is currently in development. Alethea has 10 years’ experience managing education and skills projects in partnership with a diverse network of education institutions and training providers. She has successfully run projects with investment from local, provincial, national government as well as corporate funding and has partnered with or placed learners at over 150 South African and multinational companies. Alethea has a BA in International Studies from Stellenbosch University and Honours degrees in Social Anthropology and Psychology from the University of Cape Town and UNISA respectively.
